It’s often set to music and can range from gentle to vigorous depending on the class.

Restorative yoga is a gentle, calming practice that uses props like bolsters and blankets to support the body in passive poses. It focuses on deep relaxation, stress relief, and nervous system restoration, making it ideal for recovery and mental well-being.
Spa
Spa yoga is a slow, soothing practice that blends gentle yoga, restorative poses, and mindfulness with a spa-like atmosphere. Often enhanced with soft lighting, calming music, aromatherapy, and massage elements, it promotes deep relaxation and sensory rejuvenation.
YIN
Yin Yoga is a slow-paced, meditative style of yoga that targets the deeper connective tissues of the body—such as ligaments, joints, fascia, and bones. It involves holding passive poses for extended periods (typically 3 to 5 minutes or more) to promote flexibility, increase circulation, and encourage stillness of the mind. Unlike more active yoga styles, Yin Yoga emphasizes relaxation and introspection, making it an excellent complement to dynamic practices and a powerful tool for stress relief and inner calm.
INSTRUCTORS
Colleen walsh
Colleen came to the practice of yoga just over a year ago when she began working reception at her college gym. By becoming more involved with the wellness program at Rutgers, she was exposed to a variety of fitness and wellness classes, including yoga! As soon as she became immersed in the practice of yoga, Colleen could already feel improvement in all areas of her life. She felt calmer, stronger, and more alert, ready to face every day with confidence. She grew passionate about the holistic side of health and wellness and began integrating yoga practices in all aspects of her life.
Colleen wanted to do as much as she could to share what she saw was effective, leading her to teaching. She has learned to incorporate her psychology knowledge with her yoga experience to create a comprehensive and mindful yoga experience for students. Colleen is incredibly grateful to her family, especially her uncle Kevan Gale, for providing her with the opportunities to learn and grow in the yoga practice, and to her teachers Betty Riaz and Jamie Russell at Triyana Studies for giving her to tools to create a good yoga experience for others.
Additionally, she is thankful that from a young age, she was encouraged to get outside and connect with nature which has contributed to her understanding of interconnectedness with our earth. Colleen hopes to cultivate an environment of peace, kindness, and connectedness in her yoga practice so that everyone feels encouraged to partake in yoga. She believes that by incorporating yoga and meditation into our daily lifestyle, we can give ourselves room for growth physically and mentally, and the opportunity to be the best versions of ourselves.
